Plano ISD’s Academy High School Graduation Information

Cap, Gown & Announcements – Learners will not be allowed to decorate their cap.

Jostens is the 2017 supplier of announcements and caps and gowns. Packets for cap and gowns, and other graduation gear were distributed in the fall.

Packages bought in the fall will be distributed Tuesday, April 18th from 8:30 – 10am in the cafeteria.

Rehearsal will be June 1st 9:45am at Academy HS in LS 15-17. Rehearsal is mandatory for all seniors who plan to participate in the graduation ceremony.

Tickets for Family and Guests 

Tickets will be required for guest admittance into the Eisemann Center. All guests will need a ticket, regardless of age. Learners will be issued a ticket booklet the week of May 22nd. The number of admission tickets issued is based upon the number of graduates to be accommodated at the facility. Seating will be general admission. There are areas for handicap seating for those who need it and they may be accompanied by one companion (both must have tickets). The tickets are for family and friends; the graduate does not need a ticket. Plano ISD Academy HS learners will receive 12 tickets each.

Parking and Directions 

Free parking for students and staff will be in the parking garage attached to the Eisemann Center.

Parking for families and friends will be in the parking garage across the street from the Eisemann for $5.

There will be parking signs for assistance.

Ceremony and Dress Code

Seniors must arrive at the auditorium one hour (1pm) before the ceremony properly attired in the grey gown and cap with blue stole & tassel in addition to any cords they have earned. Cords will be given to members of NHS, Mu Alpha Theta, and Robotics clubs. Learners will be directed to a side room to line up before the ceremony. The ceremony is estimated to last 1 hour.

Ladies should wear dresses or dress slacks and appropriate shoes.  Gentlemen are to wear dress trousers, long sleeved dress shirts, ties and appropriate shoes and socks.  Lettering and/or decorations are not appropriate on caps or gowns, no shorts, jeans, or athletic shoes. Graduates may not have personal items in their possession when they line up for the processional (CELL PHONES, CAMERAS, PURSES, ETC). Have parents hold these items until after the ceremony.

Plano ISD Policies
To respect and honor all graduating seniors and their families, please review these policies.

Plano Independent School District may refuse admission (or may expel) patrons for disruptive or disorderly conduct. Noisemakers and air horns are not permitted. Persons found with these items will be escorted from the venue. Other items prohibited at this venue are balloons, silly string/confetti, lighters, matches, laser pointers, weapons, back packs, large purses, bags, food and drinks, tobacco products, large flower arrangements, signs, large banners, tripods and professional cameras. Learners will also sign a code of conduct form for the ceremony.

Post-Event Broadcasts

Approximately one week following graduation, the ceremony will be posted on Plano ISD’s website.

Professional Photographs 

Flash Photography will photograph each graduate and will mail proofs at no charge within a few days of the ceremony. Orders can be placed on the Flash Photography website: Photos will be taken in the side room directly after the ceremony and then the learner will be released to reunite with their families outside of the building.


Josten’s gives us a ceremonial diploma to use during the ceremony. The state diploma will be given in an envelope after the ceremony when the learners get their picture taken.

Learners will be asked to verify their first, middle, and last name that will be on their diploma and stated at the graduation ceremony.
