Mark Kinney – Facilitator
“What if…” is the driving force that keeps Mark going in education and is what brings him to Academy HIgh School. His path to this point has been unconventional to say the least. Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, he has been influenced by its natural beauty and it is a large reason why he is passionate about the outdoors. He left this beautiful place to attend The University of Southern Mississippi, where he graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Physics and Secondary Education with a minor in Mathematics. The opportunity to work closely with professors in small classes instead of just being a face in the crowd was the deciding factor to move across country to Mississippi and take on a new cultural experience. Since 2007, he has taught all levels of physics, and helped develop a Physics I course specifically for students whose strengths lie outside of science and math. Mark spends every waking spare moment spending time with his wife and three kids, all who either work at, or attend a school in PISD. His hobbies include whatever sport or extracurricular activity his kids are in as well as camping with family and friends.
